DNAA at NCAS Clout Champs 2019

Don’t be fooled by that sky, the wind was tricky and even cold at times. But the hardy DNAA clout enthusiasts were not deterred and it was Helen Horsley from Riverside Archers who rose to the top, winning the trophy for ladies longbow on Sunday!  Lady Paramount and Lord Patron duties were carried out with style by our very own Mary and Connor Rathbone over both days.

Helen George Funeral – please read

From Tony George:
I’ve been inundated with questions about floral tributes for Helen, however I know Helen hoped that she could leave a legacy after her death. As a result Helen’s chosen charity is hounds for heroes. One word and dot com. The choice is yours but on the day of Helen’s funeral there will be no collection and I leave the decision to support this, to you alone. Thank you. Tony George.

Helen George

We are very sorry to hear that Helen George passed away yesterday in the Palliative Care Unit of North Tyneside Hospital. No further details are available at present but will be provided by Tony once these are arranged.

Our thoughts are with Tony and her family, Helen was known well throughout the region and beyond and will be missed by a great many people.

From County Chairman Dave Harrison

Helen was a coach, mentor and good friend to the archery world and more so to Para archers who she was passionate about. She gave her time expertise to anyone who asked, and improved everyone she coached. Her archers have achieved European, World and Olympic Golds. Our very own archer Alex Wise is testimony to that.
From my own point she was my coach and helped me achieve standards way above what I had expected, she was close friend to myself and my wife Dot. I along with the whole archery world will dearly miss her. I have said that every arrow I shoot from now will be testament to Helen, I will remember her every time I shoot
Mine, and I’m sure every archers, sympathies go to her husband Tony and her family. Rest in Peace my friend
